This metric does not include the buffering before the first frame of a video is displayed, buffering following user-initiated seeks (S1) and any paused time. If rebuffering starts 10 seconds or more after seek start, this rebuffering is counted as connection induced rebuffering and a play interrupt.
Note: Zero CIRR Ended Plays % measures the percentage of ended plays that had zero connection induced rebuffering. For more details about Connection Induced Rebuffering Ratio (CIRR), see Connection Induced Rebuffering Ratio.
Connection Induced Interrupted Plays is available as a time series for the selected time period, where each point is the percentage of ended plays with connection induced interrupts during that specific interval.
Distribution
- Ended Plays vs Connection Induced Interruptions Distribution (available in Diagnostics): a distribution by preset buckets, where each bucket is the number of interruptions in plays caused by connection induced rebuffering plotted against the respective amount of Ended Plays. This distribution enables you to see the frequency of interruptions and how many sessions with interruptions fall into each of the ended plays buckets, such as zero, 1, 2, 3, 4-7.
- Play Duration vs Connection Induced Interruptions Distribution (available in Diagnostics): a distribution by preset buckets, where each bucket is the number of interruptions in plays caused by connection induced rebuffering plotted against the respective play durations in minutes. While it is normal for very long sessions to have more interruptions, this distribution can help you understand the users' overall tolerance for interruptions.

| Dimensions | Use filters to focus this metric by metadata segments for enhanced root cause analysis. For example, limiting data to specific ISP and player dimensions can narrow the root cause of a higher Connection Induced Interrupted Plays to a known provider and player type. |
| Diagnostics |
The Diagnostic page presents detailed information about the Connection Induced Interrupted Plays and the specific interrupts that occurred in selected time ranges. You can also apply Filters to see where interrupts are occurring, for example by CDN/Resource and ASN, and which assets are affected most often. For more information about diagnosis with this metric, see Diagnostics. |

If a session has continuous non-seek re-buffering for 90 seconds, the play is treated as expired. Conviva VSI Video reports the Connection Induce Rebuffering Time (CIRT) for the expired session as zero due to the session expiration, and reports the session as a Connection Induced Interrupted Play due to the rebuffering. |
